Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 9

FullSizeRender (7)MonkeyMe didn’t want to leave the warmth of his bed in the cabin they spent the night in.  It was cold outside in Jackson Hole, WY!  But, he finally pulled himself out only to have to ride in temperature’s in the upper 20’s.  Brrrrr!  They rode through Wind River Canyon, which is absolutely beautiful. IMG_1178

Then they stopped to eat in Dubois, WY where they met a very nice lady who fell in love with MonkeyMe.  She said that he reminded her of a present that her father had given her when she was a little girl.  She didn’t want to say good-bye to him.

IMG_1190It’s always nice to make new friends while on an adventure!

They left there and traveled through Laramie, WY and on to their stop for the night in Colorado Springs, CO.  It was a long day on the road with freezing temperatures coupled with rain, snow and 50-mph wind gusts.  Not the best conditions to be riding in, but they made it safely.  That’s what is important.

Until tomorrow….

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 7

FullSizeRender (6)MonkeyMe and his friends decided to have an easy, laid-back sort of day.  They toured the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, WY.  MonkeyMe liked seeing all of the relics of the Old West from days gone by.  IMG_1126

He particularly liked the Cody Firearms Museum, which is a part of the Buffalo Bill Center.

IMG_1127After spending most of the day at the museum, they spent some much needed “down” time doing some laundry.  After 7 days on the road, they had a lot of dirty clothes to wash.

They plan to hit the road again after a good night’s sleep though.  So check back to see where their adventure takes them.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 6

IMG_1107MonkeyMe and friends started the day by going to Deadwood, SD which is in the Black Hills.  MonkeyMe hitched a ride, again, as they headed to the saloon where Wild Bill was shot and killed in 1876.

IMG_1110Unfortunately, the saloon was closed, but that didn’t stop MonkeyMe from hanging out there.  They spent a little time walking around in Deadwood then went to Sturgis, SD.

IMG_1115In Sturgis, they visited the Motorcycle Museum.  MonkeyMe liked seeing all of the old motorcycles.  However, he decided he liked the motorcycle he is riding on the best.

IMG_1119It is much more comfortable.

IMG_1120Once they left Sturgis, they headed west toward Cody, WY.  They rode through some beautiful snow-capped mountains along the way.  But, unfortunately, they got in to some more rain and some hail.  MonkeyMe didn’t like the hail at all.  He was glad when they reached Cody and got a room for the night.  He was ready for the rest and relaxation.

Check back tomorrow for more MonkeyMe Adventures.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 5

IMG_1060Another beautiful day of site seeing in South Dakota!

MonkeyMe and friends visited the Crazy Horse Monument.  Of course, it isn’t completed yet, so the next time they go there, perhaps it will look a little different.  Never-the-less, it is interesting to see the progress of the work.  IMG_1059

From there they went to Custer State Park.  They rode all thru it and saw some buffalo.  MonkeyMe was very excited about that because he had never seen buffalo before.  It is always fun to experience new things.  IMG_1088

After leaving Custer Park, they went to see Mount Rushmore.  It must have been a long walk, so MonkeyMe hitched a ride.  Either that, or someone just has a Monkey on his back.

IMG_1090They made it to the Monument for a photo op.

IMG_1101After all the touring they stayed the night in Keystone, SD.  I can’t wait to hear what they do and where they go next!

Where’s MonkeyME? Day 4 of riding

IMG_0988MonkeyMe and his friends had a great day on the road yesterday.  The weather was much better than the day before.  They had sunshine and blue skies all day.

They started out the day by visiting The Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD.  They enjoyed seeing this beautiful work of art.  MonkeyMe liked seeing all of the corn.  Who knew that monkeys liked corn?  IMG_0994

After touring The Corn Palace, they rode on up the road to Murdo, SD and went to the Pioneer Auto Show.  MonkeyMe loved all of the old cars.  IMG_0999

From there they sent to Wall, SD and visited Wall Drug Store.  You can’t go to South Dakota and NOT go to Wall Drug!  They acted silly but had a lot of fun.  IMG_1033

They continued North to The Badlands National Park.  The scenery was beautiful.

After a day of site seeing, they were ready to stop for the night, so they rode on to Rapid City, SD.  They got a room and had a good dinner.

Where will their adventure take them today?  Check back tomorrow to hear all about it.  Stay safe!

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 3 of riding…..

Rain, rain go away…MonkeyMe wants to play.  Miserable day of riding yesterday in the pouring rain.  It was a long hard day of riding with no time for fun or shenanigans.  It rained the entire 740 miles we rode. Stopped for the night in Mitchell, SD.

rainHoping today will turn out better so we can have some fun.  Stay safe out there!

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 2 of riding

FullSizeRender1MonkeyMe had a very exciting day of riding yesterday.  After leaving Tupelo, MS, he rode on to Clinton, AR where he went to see the Natural Bridge.  After paying his fee to enter the park, he paused for a photo op with shop keeper.FullSizeRender (4)  The bridge was about a mile down a very narrow and winding road.  MonkeyMe was very scared, but he didn’t complain.  When you’re on a motorcycle, sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with the conditions.  The scary ride was well worth it to see the beautiful natural phenomenon called the Natural Bridge.

FullSizeRender (5)After taking a photo, he had to endure the ride back out on the same winding road.

He and his friends hit the road again to continue the adventure.

IMG_0245They stopped to eat at Lambert’s Cafe (Home of Throwing Rolls) in Ozark, MO.  After filling their bellies, they continued on and spent the night in Springfield, MO.

I can’t wait to see where his travels take him next.
