Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 13

Welcome home, MonkeyMe!

My apologies for the belated post.

On day 13 of riding, MonkeyMe and his friends made it home safely.  They were tired from riding, but glad to be out of all the storms they encountered along the way.  Although they had a great trip, it could have been a lot more pleasant had the weather cooperated more.  The main thing is that no one got hurt and nothing got torn up along the way.

In the 13 days of riding they rode a total of approximately 5200 miles (give or take).  That’s a lot of miles in such a short period of time on a motorcycle.  We are all very thankful that there were no mishaps along the way.

We can’t wait until the next adventure that MonkeyMe takes.  Where will he go and what mode of transportation will he take?  Only time will tell.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 12

Not much excitement for Day 12 on the road.  Lots of rain and wind.  MonkeyMe and his friends made it safely to Jasper, AL for the night.  They are all very tired of riding in and trying to outrun the rain.

Hoping they will have blue skies for the rest of their trip as they head East.

Stay dry and be safe.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 11

IMG_2046Well….MonkeyMe and his friends had a pretty bad day riding.  They rode through torrential downpours, high winds, and tornado warnings pretty much all day.  At one point, they had to stop under an overpass to wait out the rain.  They met a fellow biker who had run out gas and money.  He told them that someone had gone to get him some gas and was awaiting their return.  So MonkeyMe and his friends gave him a little cash to help him out.  They are hoping that he made it to his destination safely.  IMG_2044

After a miserable day, they finally stopped for the night in Van Buren, AR.  They went to Big Jake’s Cattle Co for dinner.  They met some really nice people in the restaurant.  Their food was outstanding and the service was great.  They could not have asked for a better meal after a long day of riding.  So, if you’re ever in Van Buren, stop in at Big Jake’s and tell them that MonkeyMe sent you.IMG_2042

MonkeyMe always likes to have his picture taken with pretty ladies.  He wanted to thank them for a wonderful meal and taking the time to have a picture taken.  They are true MonkeyMe kind of people. IMG_2041

We are hoping that the next few days will be better for MonkeyMe and his friends.  Ride safely, Guys!

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 10

IMG_1206MonkeyMe and his friends set out from Colorado Springs to continue their adventure.  The weather was much better for riding.  No rain and temperatures were in the 70’s & 80’s.  MonkeyMe was much happier with those conditions.

They wanted to ride up Pike’s Peak, but the road was still closed so they couldn’t go.  MonkeyMe was upset because he was looking forward to going up there.  But they did a “ride by” as they headed to Rocky Ford, CO.  Of course, MonkeyMe had to stop for picture.  They continued South to Lamar, CO where they had lunch.  IMG_1216

They then headed East toward Kansas.  Yes, they are working their way back East.  Their next stop was in Dodge City, KS where they visited Boot Hill.

IMG_1215After walking around for a while and seeing the old city, they continued their journey for the day.  They rode on to Pratt, KS where they ate a delicious steak dinner and stayed the night.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 9

FullSizeRender (7)MonkeyMe didn’t want to leave the warmth of his bed in the cabin they spent the night in.  It was cold outside in Jackson Hole, WY!  But, he finally pulled himself out only to have to ride in temperature’s in the upper 20’s.  Brrrrr!  They rode through Wind River Canyon, which is absolutely beautiful. IMG_1178

Then they stopped to eat in Dubois, WY where they met a very nice lady who fell in love with MonkeyMe.  She said that he reminded her of a present that her father had given her when she was a little girl.  She didn’t want to say good-bye to him.

IMG_1190It’s always nice to make new friends while on an adventure!

They left there and traveled through Laramie, WY and on to their stop for the night in Colorado Springs, CO.  It was a long day on the road with freezing temperatures coupled with rain, snow and 50-mph wind gusts.  Not the best conditions to be riding in, but they made it safely.  That’s what is important.

Until tomorrow….

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 8

13263942_10209514786887905_6463748829985017234_nMonkeyMe and his friends left Cody, WY and headed to Chief Joseph Highway.  I’ve heard that it is a wonderful road to ride.  They wanted to ride Bear Tooth Pass as well, but it was closed due to snow.  So they headed to Yellowstone.  They rode through Yellowstone and Grand Tetons down to Jackson Hole where they rented a cabin for the night.

They were very glad to be in the cabin after a long day of cold, wind, rain, sleet & hail.  Also, some snow here and there.  (you can see snow on this car) 13237713_10209514787327916_4827275977258055725_n

It was pretty much a miserable day to be on a motorcycle.  But, they made it safely and that is all that matters.

Hopefully, the weather will improve for the rest of their adventure.  Stayed tuned to see what’s next.

Where’s MonkeyMe? Day 7

FullSizeRender (6)MonkeyMe and his friends decided to have an easy, laid-back sort of day.  They toured the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, WY.  MonkeyMe liked seeing all of the relics of the Old West from days gone by.  IMG_1126

He particularly liked the Cody Firearms Museum, which is a part of the Buffalo Bill Center.

IMG_1127After spending most of the day at the museum, they spent some much needed “down” time doing some laundry.  After 7 days on the road, they had a lot of dirty clothes to wash.

They plan to hit the road again after a good night’s sleep though.  So check back to see where their adventure takes them.
